Requesting a placement (for Parents)

REVISE provides experienced retired teacher volunteers to work with you and your children in their daily learning with relevant School of the Air (SOTA). Placements are of negotiable length, but usually from three to six weeks.

REVISE volunteers relate closely with the Port Augusta School Of The Air teachers and those at Open Access College (Marden) or the relevant interstate School Of The Air.

REVISE teachers complement with their own experience and interests, the daily lessons presented by SOTA.

Although the primary focus is learning support, REVISE volunteers are often, on request, prepared to help with other duties around the property. This is particularly relevant, when a non-teaching partner accompanies the teacher.

The REVISE program is managed from Adelaide and reports regularly to the Management Committee comprising parent and teacher groups..

Parents are expected to provide accommodation and meals for REVISE volunteers whilst on placement and to make a contribution to travel expenses. If parents have difficulty with these provisions, REVISE managers are happy to discuss options.

Parents can obtain further information by contacting the REVISE office,

or request a placement by completing and forwarding the Parent Request for Assistance by email or post.

REVISE also organises:

  • LAP volunteers.
  • Adelaide metropolitan volunteers who provide weekly learning support in Community Residential Care facilities.
